The Mark Makers is a London based pop up drawing workshop, run by working illustrator and designer Alice Nyong. Alice started the workshops in early 2016 with an aim to bring lots of the creative things that she loved together in one place. Fun and non – stuffy; the Mark Makers is couple of hours for yourself, to just be creative and expressive with no pressure from others or from yourself. The workshops aim to offer a new way of interpreting the traditional medium of still life, which perhaps you might have learnt at school, and more often than not been a bit bored by. By conceiving colourful, sassy and dynamic still lives (no dead fruit or skulls here) Alice creates beautiful shapes, colours and subject matter which make getting more confident with drawing and mark making a fun process. Alice works as a freelance illustrator and designer, and utilises the skills she uses every day both in her own work and in her industry with the worskhop’s. Expertly combining her insider knowledge mark making fundamentals, delivered in accessible demonstrations and exercises. Since starting the workshops Alice has worked with a range of clients including Harrods and the V&A museum, and are equally as at home in a yoga retreat to an early evening space with a cocktail in hand. The classes are great for all skill sets, whether you’re a master mark maker or a total beginner.
